Dropkick Murphys Newark reviews
High energy concert
Absolutely fantastic show! Great energy! I had no idea who was opening for them until I showed up at the venue. I was pleasantly surprised to see The Bombpops opening for them as I had seen them before and really liked them, however, they seemed an odd opener. The Rumjacks I had never heard of but truthfully were on the same level of the Dropkick Murphys. My only recommendation may have been to change the order of the opening acts. They opened with The Rumjacks, but I think they should have opened with The Bombpops and then went to The Rumjacks before Dropkick Murphys played. I think the flow of music would have been better that way as it would have really kept the energy of the crowd up. The Bombpops are a great band and I really like them but they are not in the same category of music and it was obvious that the majority of the concertgoers weren't all that into them. Which again is unfortunate because I like them so I was super happy to see them again, but nobody around me was even clapping when they finished songs etc, which was a shame because they are a talented band in their own right, just not the same genre of music is all that these people came to see. Overall, for myself, it was a fantastic concert and I highly recommend it if they are in your town. The general admission area was a little rowdy with lots of crowd surfing and things flying through the air so if you want to enjoy the show without that I'd recommend reserved seating like I did from above. But that is my personal preference.
